Deaf Husband Has No Idea He’s In An Abusive Passive Aggressive Marriage

“I had no idea that she was muttering under breath the entire time because she was smiling. I just thought she was humming”

VANCOUVER, BC - Canadian man Jacob Tenney was shocked today when he found out that his 4 and a half year marriage was based on a lie. "Most marriages are full of fighting, so I thought we were doing pretty well" said Mr. Tenney, a cable repairman. "Carol is always smiling, and dinner is always hot, so I thought we were good. I mean she was a little rough with the dishes but she is always humming, so I never thought anything of it" he remarked as a single tear rolled down his cheek. 

Wife, Carol, initially refused comments to the Earmold but she finally returned an email saying "Our marriage is the marriage he deserves" when pressed for reasons why he was failing to meet her expectations she simply replied "I read that most married couples that fight end up getting divorced, and I can't afford to be single. Besides he is pretty used to this treatment"

Mr. Tenney told The Earmold that they had looked into couples psychotherapy, but the idea stopped when Mrs. Tenney simply smiled and hummed before walking to the kitchen. Jacob went on to tell us that he has offered many times to help around the house despite working 12-14 hour shifts. "I'd offer to help and she just smiles and says 'no honey you had a long day' then starts humming" he told us.

After 3 hours of emails, Mrs. Tenney finally agreed to a joint interview. When asked if they intended to stay married Mr. Tenney offered the following "Even if she is being a bitch, it doesn't really bother me. This arrangement works fine" Mrs. Tenney smiled and agreed before adding in a sotto voice, something to the effect of "it only works because of your life insurance policy" 

The young couple is already planning their 5 year anniversary in Paris.
